About
Fishing was introduced to us in the mid 80’s by our Dad and Uncle David. Our Uncle was an avid fisherman and his family had a deep sea fishing boat. We loved it instantly; deep sea fishing, trout fishing in the Sequoias, fishing the back bay in Newport Beach. But what really hooked us were black bass. At 13 years old we'd wake up at 4am on the weekends to watch Bill Dance, Roland Martin, and the In-Fisherman. We dreamed of owning a bass boat and joining the B.A.S.S. Tour. We read text books on fishing and shared information with each other and our cousin Shane Banes when we learned something new.
As we got older, we were more involved in other things like skateboarding, snowboarding, potato launchers, etc. Fishing became something to do with our family, but we'd still sneak into a golf course pond or find a hidden gem in the orange groves.
That bass fishing itch was still there. Eventually we jumped back on the wagon. We started fishing all the time and created a blog called BassWassup. Our "you're in on the joke" nature of the blog and consistency of posts actually garnered a bit of a cult-following. A few of us got bass boats and it was rolling. With the passing of our father, we slowed down again. Yet as always, the spirit was still alive in us. This has been in discussion for years and we're finally stepping up and creating BassWassup the brand with the same "fishing is for everybody" attitude.
